Every partner holds live engagements alongside whatever else they lead. Nobody in this firm advises on work they are not close to, and there is no tier of leadership that has stopped practising.
We do not staff pyramids. An engagement typically pairs a senior partner with a small client-side working team, which is why the people who scope the work are the people you see in the room during it.
The partner who scopes an engagement runs it, and stays through the first quarters of execution. Expertise that leaves at the recommendation is not expertise the client ever really had.
